A Philly Blogger in New York: Quentin D. Washington

Quentin D. Washington is the Philly blogger behind Avenue Swank, a slick mash up of fashion, pop culture and politics. He and I have been meaning to get together in Philly for ages now. Instead, we just run into each other every six months in New York. Here he is in a blazer by Kai-aakmann, a shirt by Karl Lagerfeld, pants by Zara, shoes by Nike, a bag by Jack Spade, and glasses by Randolph Engineering. You know, one of the coolest things about street fashion today is the mixing and matching of high fashion brands with fast fashion and low brow. Labels still matter, of course, but it's no longer necessary to saturate your look with them.

You may have noticed that I have once again reverted to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday posting schedule. There's a simple explanation for that: it's much harder to shoot streetstyle in the fall and winter. People dress less creatively. The light is flat after around 1pm. And I'm just too tied up with my teaching and publication to generate much output. So that's how it's gonna be for a while: MWF posts, alternating between Philly and NYFW coverage. Quentin's a perfect combination of both.
