Philadelphia Street Style: Angela, Walnut St

Angela describes her style as "whatever I like," which, as it turns out, is mostly thrifted stuff. Her musical taste — following a similar theme — is "a lot of everything" from "pop to indie." She's been listening to a lot of Mika lately in particular.

Since I've started asking people about their style and taste I've been amazed by how frequently people say something along these lines. Could it be true? Are we, in fact, a nation of eclectic individuals? The social scientist in me is skeptical. I'll keep you posted.

  1. When I was younger I would have probably had more specific answers to those questions, but now that I am older, I would have to say that my style is now "whatever I like", which is mostly thrifted and vintage, and it's the same for how I decorate my apartment, what I listen to, read, etc. This is certainly not true of a lot of people. Perhaps it's related to world becoming smaller because of the internet and that we are exposed to so many more options?

  2. @Forest City Fashonista, always enjoy reading your thoughts. Thanks!

  3. I think we're a nation that wants to be eclectic individuals, but I'm sure the success rate is a minority. :)

  4. I'd like to think we are, but you've got a bit of a sampling bias there.
